Monterey Horse Park
This non-profit was heading into a fund-raising period, and wanted to update their site to have a more up-to-date look as well as function better on hand-held devices. A theme was chosen that had many graphic modules included, such as animated progress bars, to better attract visitors and enliven the pages. Using a fully-featured theme reduced the number of plugins required from 20 to 3. This project also included an e-commerce implementation for the collection of donations. Online payment processor Stripe was chosen, and because of the organization’s non-profit status, Monterey Horse Park qualified for an ongoing .5% reduction in transaction fees as well as an introductory 12-month or $15,000-worth of free processing. Both write-in amounts as well as subscription-type donations are supported. Credit card transactions are protected via SSL encryption. Monterey Horse Park also has a busy Facebook page (1800 fans), and the website is set up to auto-post news stories there. Periodic emails are sent via MailChimp to a growing list of over 1000 addresses. Spanish language translation is offered on every page of the website as well as on the emails.
